Khmer New Year 2009

April 11, 2009

Our New Year Celebration took place on April 11, 2009. More than 500 people attended the festivities that included praying, community leader speeches, traditional dancing, ancient fighting demonstrations and of course plentiful and delicious food. Khmer New Year is not just a great traditional festival for Cambodian, but it is also a day of unity and togetherness for people of Cambodian descent worldwide.

We would like to thank Watt Bodhikaram and Watt Ratanak Pratib for coming together to give the Cambodian community a blessing for the New Year. Thanks to Golden Hearts of Cambodia and South East Asian Fighting Academy for entertaining us with a dance performance and a fighting presentation. Much appreciation to Ros Sophira, Khunvanna, and the Friendship Band for ending the night with splendid pieces of Cambodian music.

Thank you to all who participated and contributed to this year’s Khmer New Year.
